Equity Rate Tuition for QBIPOC
We understand that many in our community have financial limitations and it is our intent to make all our offerings as accessible as possible to those who wish to attend.
We believe that coming together in mutual support and moving away from valuing dollars over humans will make all of our communities healthier and happier.
The reduced rates we offer are a critical component to making our program inclusive, accessible and equitable. Our equity rates are given to those whose voices have been historically marginalized and silenced, and are therefore underrepresented as yoga and meditation teachers. This means non-white, queer, people with disabilities (visible and non-visible), and people who cannot typically access these kinds of programs due to prohibitive cost and/or cultural insensitivity.
To apply for Equity Rate Tuition for our 2018 200-Hour Teacher Training please use the form below. Equity Rates will be given as available based on demonstrated need.
In addition to this form, Equity Rate applicants will also need to complete the general application for the 200TT Program as well as include a one-to-two page statement of intent and one letter of reference from a teacher or mentor who is not a family member. Submit all application materials to firstname.lastname@example.org.
200-Hour Summer Intensive Scholarships
In reflection of our commitment towards creating strong, accessible, and inclusive communities, Sola is pleased to offer one full scholarship* and two partial work trade scholarships for our 2017 200-hour summer intensive.
The deadline for scholarship applications is March 30th 2017. We will let you know if you did or did not receive it by April 7th.
Full Scholarship and Mentorship for POC and Underserved Communities
Our intention is to support individuals from communities which have been historically marginalized and are typically under-represented in yoga studios to gain skills and experience as yoga/meditation teachers and embodied facilitators. We aim to support and empower these teachers in establishing their teaching practices both in and outside of the mainstream studio culture.
Along with completing the immersion and all other requirements, our full scholarship recipient must commit to 75 teaching service hours with the community they are connected with and/or feel called to serve. During this span of time the scholarship recipient will receive regular mentorship with Sola faculty in business administration, class/workshop/event planning, and other assistance to design and execute programming that is suitable and relevant to their communities. Note: these hours are in addition to the twelve hours of volunteer service required of all students for certification from us.
To apply for this scholarship please submit your application with a one to two page statement of intent and one letter of reference from a teacher or mentor who is not a family member. Submit to email@example.com.
Your statement of intent should tell us first and foremost your intentions in studying with us. How will you use your training? Why is this training important to you at this time? What community or organization will you bring your teaching skills to? What are your financial considerations? Scholarships will be awarded by strength of commitment as well as by need.
Additional notes on eligibility for full scholarship: We award scholarships to individuals who already have an established practice (minimum one year) of yoga and meditation in any style. We accept individuals who desire to be studio yoga teachers as well as those who wish to gain skills which will be implemented in other organizations, community, or therapeutics settings. For questions on scholarship please contact us.
